Re: How to make this forum better
Hello ! I know this is probably not priority one on the list but I remerber a post on the DB that I really enjoy. A while ago Walter Pullen created his Fairy Motivational Posters.

I think those are hilarious and if ever you do a funny section you could include his creativity

Re: How to make this forum better
I had another idea. If we want this forum to replace the other one, would it be cool to have Bug Reports and Feature suggestions?
And for Bug reports, it would be a requirement for people to post their garden link so Mike can help them.

Re: How to make this forum better
That's a good idea, but I'm wondering if I should hold off on adding them until we know Mike is checking this forum out. I wouldn't want people to post bugs here and not get them fixed if he's not looking here.Naughty Gingerbread Ninja wrote:I had another idea. Definitely.
Re: How to make this forum better
I think we need what every forum needs - more people
Maybe we can advertise it some way - what do you think?

Re: How to make this forum better
I think that would be great. I think we can put a new topic on the discussion board, for one. Then advertise in our own gardens, tell our friends, that sort of thing.
Then we can get Mike to put it on the fan page... anyone hear from mike?

Re: How to make this forum better
I have an art contest idea - a pretty headline for the forum. I can donate some diamond dust for a prize )) It surely will bring new fairies here
In the end, we can create a poll with all works, and fairies will vote. Wow, I'm getting carried away
Can we even change the headline, huh?

That's a GREAT idea, Noir! I'm sure there are plenty of talented fairies out there who would be willing to use some of their talent to make a great headline... wow!
I'd spare a DD too.
Re: How to make this forum better
Sure thing! Especially if we're gonna have the competition
People can discuss their works, and other fairy-art-related issues, like films and music. That's a whole fairy-culture section ))

Fairy culture sounds great! ^__^ I always wanted to talk about the type of music NGNF likes, but didn't want to clog up the other DB with chatter.
Re: How to make this forum better
A new thought (I'm like a fountain today, really)
I suggest to make "read here first" section to a whole "newbie area", with all the basic information. A new name needed of course. It is quite empty now, and many fairies may ignore it completely.
It can contain the FAQ (which doesn't really belong to General Garden Info - it has many info about alchemy and herbalism as well). A newbie can read all there is to know about everything in one place, which is really handy. As for the Garden section - Almanach has all the info about gardening, and can replace the FAQ pretty well.
Another suggestion for the "newbie area" - a team of Fairyland Specialists! Any user can PM them, if he can't manage on his own, and they also can answer endless "harvesting" questions in this section. I think it can help to keep every thread in order. Specialists (or Advisers, or Fairy Gurus, as you wish) can have their own status under pics (like Marmaduke the Herbalism King ) so the newbie could know who has the precious info
I'm done

Re: How to make this forum better
Is it possible to make the avatars a bit smaller? Not much, I like seeing them properly... Now the space needed for the post isn't defined by the length of the text but by the size of the avatar.
Re: How to make this forum better
ahh, well, i may be in the minority but i love the size of the avatars, i see a way around it though...Anne wrote:Is it possible to make the avatars a bit smaller? Re: How to make this forum better
definitely as bad as all caps
personal preference would be for smaller avatars but, as we've got search and posts since last visit, the rest is gravy

Re: How to make this forum better
Lol Marmaduke, it's very loud indeed!
I love the big avatars (usually they're so tiny you need a magnifying glass to see them) but the threads will end up unnecessarily long if everyone only writes short messages. Of course there's no problem if we quote a lot and write long posts. :flower:flower-metaphors-02
Oh and Zinnia, you're so right, big avatars aren't really a problem considering that we now have a proper forum!

Re: How to make this forum better
I will work on implementing some of these ideas as soon as I get rested a bit. 6 hours of university classes makes my brain like mush
Re: How to make this forum better
Don't rush to implement them all anyways - rest assured the next posters will want something different.
What we do all know is you *can't* please all the people (or even all fairies) all of the time.
You are the admin so you get to decide Our input is exactly that - just for your consideration. I'm sure you can develop a small committee of your moderators perhaps over time to help with the big decisions
And once again - great job Laura et al.

What Zinnia said!
I love the big avatars myself. People said they couldnt' see my pic on facebook, just something small, brown, and angry. Now Chewie is displayed to his full glory!
