Looking forward to new critters!
I'm hoping that they have kitties and let us grow cat nip, any educated guesses?

I can't possibly make an educated guess when I'm laughing this hard!!! Just love your reaction Liz....
A wild cat would be rather cool...maybe the fruited birds could attract it! (although Mike has been quoted as saying no meat eating animals were likely to visit fairyland in the near future )
Having said that though, insects are meat to the hedgehog and birds... so who knows? I'm sure when the first of the new batch is spotted, we'll have a good idea of the theme. I can't wait to find out.....
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
I think a Koala or Panda, feeding on eucaliptus or bamboo would be nice
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
I've been hoping Mike would introduce some surprise wildlife...I just wish he hadn't told us anything at all, so it would have been a total surprise the first time something popped up!
I've already mentioned some of the things I'd like to see: a magpie, which would be attracted by all the shiny jewels, and maybe the various Opis fruits, though no-one's going to keep those for very long; a family of lizard type things which would be drawn by the fruited Solaris, and I'd also like a cuckoo, which would come to gardens with the fruited carmena aviflora birds, so it could get into their nests to lay its eggs! Some owls would be be good too; they'd like the fruited Lunas, the same as the badger, I suppose.
I think there will be a need for a special food which get round the fact that some critters eat disgusting things that you wouldn't want on a plate in your garden....maybe 'Magic Food' would sort that one out.

I love the idea of magpies, nicolle.
I saw a Gecko had been spotted in one of the gardens I visit. It seems they like cacti and any kind of food.
And Roadrunners have been mentioned on the FB forum? ... but I haven't done any reading up on those.
LOL! - quite!

Re: Looking forward to new critters!
Oh, nice one, nicolle! He's a cheeky wee fellow, isn't he? The garden I visited that had one, didn't have a Solaris, only a Cactus and a Bonsai - all the other plants had not yet flowered.
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
I don't think so. A friend of mine spotted a gecko in a garden with no cactus. I think geckos are the new mouse & mallardnicolle wrote:Yes, it must be the cactus!

Yes, of course you are right. I was thinking about the roadrunner, but following on from a gecko conversation!!
I saw something funny on the FL DBs, where someone had said the gecko must be the new mouse or mallard, and someone else, in all seriousness, said, no, she didn't think they were bird or mouse, rather a member of the lizard family, but would go and Google it....

Re: Looking forward to new critters!
Yes, I spied that cute little misunderstanding too.
That's the first garden without a cactus I've heard of getting a Gecko, AllieCat. So is it just coincidence that the rest happened to have cacti?

Honestly, I have no idea, maybe it's just coincidence that a gecko was found in a garden without a cactusApril&Lucinda wrote:That's the first garden without a cactus I've heard of getting a Gecko, AllieCat. So is it just coincidence that the rest happened to have cacti?
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
I think I read that the garden that didn't have a cactus at the time of the spotting, had actually harvested one not that long before! I guess that could make sense, I had a Lop visit my garden a few hours after harvesting my thornblooms! There may be a delay in when the critter is set to come and when it actually arrives.
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
I have to admit how critters come is still beyond my grasp. Sometimes they'll come right away, other times you have to wait foreverMercon wrote:I think I read that the garden that didn't have a cactus at the time of the spotting, had actually harvested one not that long before! I saw that Emily, so sorry! But I'm sure he will be back!
Seeing his shadow in your garden did teach me something though, I thought he only visited gardens with a flowering saguaro (sp) but you still have the first cactus! Might mean that the Roadrunner doesn't care what cactus is in the garden....just as long as it is flowering!
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
Someone told me the exact same thing today. A roadrunner spotted in a garden with the first cactus, and she spotted hers in one with the second cactus, flowers there, but not out. Maybe he is not fussy about the cactus. I wonder if it has to be fully grown...any thoughts?
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
I have missed a gecko last time... Does anybody knows what he wants... I had: Mixed veggies; Thornbloom Herb ; bellis; carmena uniflora; Lilium Ranidae and a cactus (Saguaro Cactus)
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
I believe Geckos are any table, any food, and a cactus?
Now there are Armadillos also! Low table, veges (mixed or green?), fully grown prickly pear cactus.

Re: Looking forward to new critters!
Apparently it's worth 4 diamonds - I take that's for the first one spotted and then 2, making it average...April&Lucinda wrote:Now there are Armadillos also! Low table, veges (mixed or green?), fully grown prickly pear cactus.
Re: Looking forward to new critters!
No, mine was worth 4, doubled to 8, because it was the first one in the garden. But 4 is fairly average, I'd have thought.
